Benchdog AI Assistant

An assistant that knows your databases and vaults, and never sees a secret.

VS Code, desktop and command line. Windows, Mac and Linux. One licence covers all three.

An AI helper inside every Benchdog tool that answers from what the tool is showing you: writes SQL for your schema, explains a difference, describes an object, without ever seeing a password or a secret value. In every Benchdog tool, on the desktop and in VS Code, with actions that run the tool for you after you press Run.

Ask about what you see

Open the assistant beside the tool and ask about the database, object, difference or vault on show. The engine builds the context from its own results, strips every secret value and password, caps it, and sends only that with your question. Answers arrive as they are written, with code in blocks you can copy, and every answer and action result has Copy. On the desktop, drag the panel wider or pop it out into a window of its own.

The assistant sees the objects in view, never your data or your secrets.

Bring your own key

Pick Anthropic or OpenAI, paste your key and choose a model from the provider's own list. The key goes only to your system's secure store and only ever to that provider; Benchdog never hosts or meters the model. Set it up once and every Benchdog tool, the command line included, uses it.

Your key, your provider, your model, shared by every tool.

One assistant, every tool

The same panel in every desktop app and the same view in every VS Code extension, with a section of its instructions for each tool: descriptions for SQL Documenter, scripts for the comparers, fake data that respects every constraint, index suggestions from a plan in SQL Monitor, schedules in SQL Scheduler, and drift by secret name in Key Vault. Each tool gives it actions of its own, from listing objects to running a command, and anything that changes something waits for you to press Run in the chat.

The same assistant in VS Code and on the desktop.
Getting started

Your first minutes with AI Assistant

  1. Install any Benchdog tool; the AI Assistant is inside each tool's desktop app and VS Code extension and comes with the benchdog command, so there is nothing more to install.
  2. Get a key from Anthropic or OpenAI on an account of your own, as Benchdog never hosts or meters the model.
  3. Open the AI Assistant from the tool's header in the desktop app, or the AI Assistant view in the tool's panel in VS Code, and choose Set up the assistant to pick the provider, paste the key and pick a model from the provider's own list.
