The agreement behind every Benchdog licence.
Last updated 25 October 2026.
These terms are the agreement between you and Benchdog for the Benchdog tools: the VS Code extensions, the desktop apps and the benchdog command. Benchdog is a trading name; the licensor is named on your invoice. By installing or using a tool you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the tools.
1. The licence
A licence is for one person and one tool. It covers that tool's VS Code extension, desktop app and command, on every machine that person works from. It is personal and may not be shared, lent, sold or transferred to anyone else. A team needs one licence per person.
The licence is perpetual for the versions released within twelve months of your purchase. After that the tool keeps working as it is. To receive later versions you renew the licence.
2. What you may not do
- Share your licence or let anyone else use it.
- Resell, rent or sublicense a tool, or offer it as a service to others.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble a tool, except where the law allows it regardless of this term.
- Remove or change any notice of ownership in a tool.
- Use a tool to break the law or to access systems you have no right to access.
3. Your Azure and SQL Server resources
The tools act as you. They sign in with your Microsoft Entra account, your Windows account or a SQL login you provide, and they only reach the vaults, subscriptions and databases that account can already reach. You are responsible for having the right to use those resources and for what you do with them, including any change the tools make at your request, such as editing a secret, deploying a schema or syncing data.
4. Purchase, prices and refunds
Prices are shown on benchdog.dev at the time of purchase and may change for future purchases. Taxes are added where the law requires. If a tool is not right for you, write to support within fourteen days of purchase and you get a full refund, no reason needed. After a refund the licence ends and you stop using the tool.
5. Updates and support
Updates are released when they are ready and are included for the period in section 1. Support is by email through the support page. We answer as quickly as we reasonably can, but we do not promise a response time or that every problem can be fixed.
6. Ownership
The tools are licensed, not sold. Benchdog keeps all rights in them. Anything you create with a tool, such as a document, a report or a script, is yours.
7. No warranty
The tools are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, Benchdog gives no warranty that a tool will be free of errors, meet your needs or run without interruption. Always keep backups and test changes against a copy before running them against a production system.
8. Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, Benchdog is not liable for any loss of data, profit, business or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss, arising from the tools or these terms. Benchdog's total liability for all claims is limited to the amount you paid for the licence in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act.
9. Ending the licence
You may stop using a tool at any time. If you break these terms the licence ends at once, and you must delete the tool from every machine. Sections 6 to 10 survive the end of the licence.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms for future purchases and renewals. The terms in force when you bought or renewed apply to that licence. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute.
